Located 2km from Inverell CBD along Lake Inverell Drive, the Lake Inverell Reserve is a wildlife and aquatic sanctuary. This peaceful area is home to a wide variety of native birds, waterbirds, kangaroos, wallabies and platypus — keep an eye out for them as you stroll along the two walking tracks.
The Lake Inverell Walk is an easy three kilometre return trip, perfect for the casual wanderer. More avid hikers will love the Barayamal Walk, a medium-grade six kilometre return trip that passes through Barayamal National Park.
Things to do: Make use of readily available barbecue and picnic areas, go fishing from the shore or from a non-powered boat, enjoy a relaxed bushwalk or take your dog for a walk (just be sure to keep them on a lead within the reserve, and remember they are not permitted in Barayamal National Park).
