Yetman

Yetman is known for it’s strong community spirit and welcoming demeanor and when visiting the village the residents make you feel like you are amongst friends.

Located just 110km north of Inverell on the Bruxner Highway, Yetman is a great place to stop off on your journey. With an area population of 178 Yetman is situated on the meandering Macintyre River.

Known for it’s rich agricultural lands, you can see cattle and sheep roam the endless fields. The area was once occupied by the Bigambul, a sub-group of the Murri Aboriginal people who once fished along the Macintyre River. The area was first established in 1837 by the Dights who followed Allan Cunningham’s trail to the north.

With Yetman being close by the fresh waters of the Macintyre River there are many locations for the keen fisherman to throw in a line. Species that can be found in the area include Murray Cod,
Yellowbelly, Catfish, Silver Perch and Redfin. Everyday is a great day for fishing in the Yetman area. This small rural community has all the necessary conveniences for those travelers passing with everything from fuel, to food and general supplies.

If you wanted to take a break from your journey the Cod Fish Hotel offers accommodation, cold beverages and hearty pub style meals.

The Yetman Caravan Park offers country hospitality in a quiet location. It features camping and van sites, washing machine facilities, clean amenities, accessible facilities, BBQ picnic area and is pet friendly.
